As I wrote earlier this week, content is one of the key tools for venture firms to market themselves.Today’s news that First Round Capital is releasing a public-facing publication further validates this position. This trend is just beginning though and it also happens to highlight a broader trend toward companies becoming the source of information.

As the gap between information owner and information distributor has all but disappeared, it only makes sense that companies (including venture firms) leverage the tools available to them to build their own audience. For venture firms, having a large audience will soon become another bullet point on their pitch decks to LPs. Given that venture firms are branding money, growing an audience is a necessary component of growing the brand.

What does this content strategy look like? I’ll be diving into this more in future posts!
