Jason Calacanis appears to have come up with a pretty clever marketing campaign to take advantage of the AngelList audience that skyrocketed them to the top of our AngelList leaderboard. The marketing campaign is pretty straight-forward: create a profile on AngelList. That’s all there was to it!
In two days over 1,000 people have followed LAUNCH, making it the second largest profile on AngelList, following directly behind 500 Startups (neither of which should probably list themselves as startups). Calacanis is no stranger to controversy and/or aggressive marketing tactics so the promotion of their profile is most definitely something I’d expect. We’ll have to see if the profile becomes the most popular one in the next couple days.
In the meantime, I’d suggest following the AngelList profile since they deserve to be the top profile on the site!
